What do I do if my springs break?
To properly diagnose if you have a broken garage door spring, walk to the very middle of your garage. Approximately 1ft above the top of your closed garage door opening you will find the garage door springs mounted horizontally on your torsion system. The torsion system also runs horizontally across the width of your garage door with the torsion springs located in the middle from where you are standing.
The springs will either be black, silver, or (if they are older) rusted. The springs are made up of coils and will appear as one long spring if they are not broken. If the spring coils have a gap within them and appear to be two separate springs, then you need garage door spring replacement. Contact Brothers Garage Doors for a garage door repair service!

Why is my garage door opener flashing? If your garage door opener is flashing, it may be due to an issue with your garage door sensors. You can locate these sensors near the floor of your garage in the opening on each side. Make sure their lights are on, their photo eyes are connected, and there’s no dust or dirt covering them. If this doesn’t fix the issue, give our team a call.

How long do garage doors last?Garage doors have an average lifespan of about 15-30 years. How long your garage door will last depends on the material it’s made of, if you take care of maintenance, and how often your garage door is in use. Investing in a well-constructed garage door and keeping up with annual maintenance will make a big difference in extending the life of your garage door.
